To commemorate the end of WW1, we are staging an exhibition of all that in the course of extensive research, we have discovered about the men named on our War Memorial, including their families and their lives in this parish before they went off to fight for King and Country.

A WW1 machine gun and field hospital equipment will be on show that weekend, and would be grateful for the loan of memorabilia you might have, not necessarily relating to the soldiers and sailors from this parish, to help tell the story of what life was like in 1914-1918. This could be photographs, medals, documents, letters or trench art - in fact anything relating to the period of conflict either on the battlefield or here at home. We have commissioned 34 large poppies, one for each of the fallen, and these can be sponsored at £5 each. They will line the path leading to the church on Remembrance Day and on the weekend of the exhibition. If you would like to sponsor one of these poppies, in memory of a family member, or a past resident of the house in which you live, or just out of respect for a man of Capel who made the supreme sacrifice, please let us know. The exhibition will be of interest to all, and we are especially keen that children should visit it and learn about what happened in that dreadful war which ended 100 years ago.
