School's out - Champing is in!

24 Jul 2015

We are pleased to announce a limited edition offer for our unique champing™ breaks – which offer the chance to camp overnight in one of our Grade I and II* listed churches – to a reduced cost for mid-week stays, primarily aimed at the spontaneous school holiday market.

‘Champers’ (church campers) will have the exclusive use of their church for only £45 per adult per night, with the added incentive of children under 16 staying for free. This is a summertime reduction of 25% on the usual price of £60, making it more affordable for fun-loving families to create their own inspired mini-adventure this summer.

With almost 350 unique churches in our property portfolio, we have created the latest phenomenon in English tourism! Champers have exclusive use of their church for the day and night followed by a hearty breakfast, and dogs are welcome to stay too.

Current champing™ sites include Swaffham Prior near Cambridge, Fordwich in Kent and Aldwincle in Northamptonshire and due to the rapidly growing success of champing™ since its launch in Spring 2015, the Saxon splendour of All Saint's church in West Stourmouth, Kent has been added to the list. Champers in this church will be very comfortable in the box pew beds - which almost seem designed to accommodate snoozing sleepers!

Peter Aiers, Director of the South East for the Churches Conservation Trust stated ""Champing is the perfect adventure for the family, to get away and enjoy some time together in our beautiful and tranquil churches. I am proud to announce West Stourmouth as the latest in our expanding list of Champing™ destinations and I can’t wait to go canoeing and Champing™ with my children this summer".
