Regeneration work now begins at All Souls, Bolton

After a long wait, the capital works on the church building have begun, and All Souls is set to become a modern, multi-purpose space for the local community and people of Bolton.

Walter Carefoot & Sons will work with the specialist heritage sub-contractor Lambert Walker to repair and conserve the historic fabric.  This, and the construction of the new pods designed by OMI architects, will take approximately twelve months. The revitalised All Souls is due to open in autumn 2014.

There will be a ground breaking event on Tuesday 24th September, attended by the project’s stakeholders and the local community to mark the beginning of the works with the opportunity to meet the project team, see the plans and find out how to be involved the project during the construction phase.

An important part of the project during the construction phase is an opportunity for training and skills development, which will include technical dates, taster days for school and colleges as well community events.  Walter Carefoot & Sons and Lambert Walker will be working closely with the National Heritage Training Group (NHTG) to provide six training and placement bursaries, which the NHTG have kindly funded.
