Mick Aston 1 July 1946 - 24 June 2013

Mick was best known for his 20-year stint on Channel 4’s Time Team, a programme that almost single-handedly popularised British archaeology from 1992 when it first aired. With his trademark stripey jumper and unkempt (his own word) grey hair Mick has been a recognisable champion of archaeology and heritage in this country. In recent years he has also been an enthusiastic supporter of the CCT, helping us promote and plan a series of projects in Somerset in particular recent archaeology projects at St Andrew's Church, Holcombe. His absence leaves a very big hole indeed and he will be sadly missed.
