Medal for Excellence Goes to CCT Partner

15 Mar 2012

Many congratulations to Patrick Clancy  who on 15th March was awarded the City & Guilds Medal for Excellence, for outstanding performance in Carpentry & Joinery Advanced Craft. Patrick has been working to teach and share his knowledge of heritage craft skills.

We are proud to have contributed in keeping heritage craft skills on the agenda at the Leeds College of Building. This has been achieved through the Heritage Craft Skills partnership, which is run by Patrick Clancy from the Leeds College of Building, and Dawn Lancaster of The Churches Conservation Trust.

The Heritage Craft Skills partnership enabled Patrick to expose his students to the different techniques, materials and crafts involved in conservation work. Students had the opportunity to try their hand at different crafts, visit listed buildings, and gain a holistic understanding of what it took to create these buildings. They were able to become better-equipped with the skills needed in conserving them for the future.

To Patrick’s further credit one of his students, Tibby Chodha, won BBC Young Carpenter of the Year 2011.
