Interactive tours of Holy Trinity Goodramagate

02 Nov 2011

You can explore the church today using a virtual ‘walk-around guide’ and flick through pages of Holy Trinity’s fascinating history, all available at your fingertips.

Developed in collaboration with the Department for Christianity and Culture at the University of York and the Friends of Holy Trinity Goodramgate, ‘The Story So Far’ is the first of its kind to be installed in a CCT church.

Users can pan round the church, pull up informative ‘hot-spots’ of information and explore the church’s architectural features. The virtual tour and ‘fly-round’ simulation of the church show its development from its foundation in the eleventh century through to the nineteenth.

There is also information about those who have helped to shape the history of Holy Trinity and its parish, from squabbling rectors in the 15th-century to today’s rather friendlier team of volunteers!

Detailed information about conservation projects now being undertaken, such as the preservation of the 17th-century box pews, gives an insight into how we preserve the fabric of historic churches for future generations.

Information about other magnificent churches in the north of England in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust is available on the screen.

The interactive tour is available on a CD ROM for only £5. Please send cheque to the following address:
