Exclusive scaffold tours and seminar at St Mary at-the-Quay, Ipswich

As part of this exciting project with Suffolk Mind, St Mary's is in the process of being transformed into a heritage and well-being centre. The £3.6 million project, which has had major funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund, will see the building of a modern extension to house complimentary therpies, peformance and business spaces as well as conservation work to the fabric of the church.

St Mary's is currently home to historic building specialists who are busy at work on their individual crafts, including lead-work, lime mortar and carpentry– it’s at this stage in the development that we’re able to offer a unique insight into the project and invite members of the public to attend one of our open sessions on Tuesday 15 July which will include our famous ‘scaffold tours’ as well as an afternoon seminar on Thursday 17 July about the care of historic buildings.

The tours consist of a project overview, viewing of the architects plans and a tour of the site to see the different crafts in action. This seminar will address the fundamental issues affecting historic buildings and is relevant to homeowners, those involved in the care of historic buildings or anyone with an interest in the subject.

All of these events are free, but places must be booked in advance
