Champing is the new glamping
The first fantastic season is officially over has been put into hibernation for the long, chilly winter, whilst we get to work on making it even bigger and better for next year.
Champing™ is the official name of the overnight stay package in one of our magnificent Grade I and II* listed churches.
The church camping breaks see ‘champers’ enjoy a night by candlelight in one of England’s treasured rural churches. Guests have the building all to themselves for a peaceful night’s sleep.
We asked champers for their thoughts, and we have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback received and plans are afoot to offer champing at ten churches for 2016. In addition to the tripling of Champing™ churches available next summer, other improvements are also planned, such as an online booking facility, discounted rates for group bookings and the opportunity to purchase Champing™ upgrade packages.
As part of our online survey, entrants were put into a free prize draw to win one of two champing stays for 2016. These prizes include champagne, dinner at a local hostelry and breakfast. The two lucky winners announced today, who each win a champing stay are Adam Thoroughgood and Maureen Williams. Adam, who went champing this summer said: “I really enjoyed my first champing stay at St. Mary’s in Fordwich. Sleeping and waking up in such an old and unique place was an amazing experience, especially as we had the church to ourselves. I am so pleased that I’ve won this competition and get to go Champing again. I am the Champ-ion!”

The ten Champing™ locations will be launched in January 2016 and bookings will be taken for stays between 1st May – 30th September 2016.
