Wilde Roses and Avon Faire will take you on a journey through the history of early music with seasonal songs, dance and tales of old England

Wilde Roses and Avon Faire will take you on a journey through the history of early music, with seasonal songs, dance and tales of the old England. From medieval mayhem through to the court of Henry 8th, you will enjoy a fabulous evening of frolic and revels in England's beautiful ancient buildings. There will be a chance to meet the musicians after the show.

Wilde Roses is a musical collaboration between singers, multi-instrumentalists, composers, dancers and performers Anna Tam and Emily Alice Ovenden. Musically and visually inspired by the medieval and renaissance world, we draw our repertoire from illuminated manuscripts, courtly songbooks, Elizabethan broadside ballads and the folk tradition. Fascinated by the stories in these songs - medieval religious imagery so beautifully infused with nature; renaissance tales of piracy, jilted lovers and general folly alongside some of the most sincere and tender love songs that reach to the heart of life and human relationships - we are moved by a desire to explore and recreate the sound world of this historical repertoire and to share these exquisite songs with present-day audiences. Emily and Anna come from different musical backgrounds and met whilst they were both part of the Mediaeval Baebes.

Avon Faire is a female singing group from New York City, featuring 3-part harmony vocal arrangements of traditional Celtic & English folk songs. Their debut record, “Riddles and Love Songs”, was released in 2017, and the group is excited to promote it on their 3rd tour of the UK in the summer of 2018.

"Enchanting", says Tim Carroll / FolkWords UK. "Listening to these perfectly balanced voices adds an entrancing level of attraction. If hitting ‘replay’ is any judge, then ‘Riddles and Love Songs’ certainly makes its mark.""Lovely stuff", says Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention about 'Riddles and Love Songs" - a compliment the group appreciates from one of their biggest musical inspirations. "Riddles and Love Songs" has been featured on the prestigious "A Thousand Welcomes" radio show on WFUV 90.7 in NYC, and DJ Jack Riley of WPRK 91.5 in Florida says, "The album sounds beautiful! Love, love, love those voices - exquisite!"

Avon Faire consists of founding members Andriette Redmann and Kath Green on vocals and guitars; Anna Marie Spallina on vocals, recorder and percussion; and John Rokosny on drums and percussion, creating the unique Avon Faire sound. Avon Faire continues to perform in concert venues, art museums, churches, Renaissance festivals, pub sessions and special events, sharing their magical vocal blend and songs with love.
