Find out more about the skill and art of thatching with one of Norfolk's most experienced and skilled craftsmen

Nick Walker, one of Norfolk and Suffolk's most prolific thatchers will give a talk on the skills of thatching; the peculiarities of thatching in this part of the world, and will demonstrate how the art of thatching turns from a few reeds, into a magnificent roof.

St. Margaret's at Hales, and St. Gregory's at Heckingham, just one mile away, are both in need of repair due to the removal of thatch by birds, and the CCT has set up an appeal to raise £25,000 to resolve the damage on both roofs, and prevent water ingress damaging the medieval paintings inside the church.

You can donate on this website, or please come along to our talk and make a donation there and then. The work will start later this year, when the funds are available to commence.

Refreshments available on the evening.
