2020 is the 850th anniversary of the commemoration of Thomas a Becket's, and he played a large part in Northampton before travelling to Canterbury, to his death.

This event see the start of the activities to help with understanding more about his life, and is the day of the Spring Opening of St. Peter's Church in Marefair.

Ruth Thomas, a local historian, will be setting the local scene for the Becket festivities, talking about Northampton's magnificent medieval castle.

The church will be open to visitors from 12 noon until 2.00 p.m.; There will be a guided tour from 1.00 until 2.00 p.m., and Ruth's talk starts at 2.00 p.m.

All welcome. Tickets £3.00 per person.
