Explore the WWI connections of our Somerset churches, in the company of the experts and volunteers who know them best.

Following collection from Taunton station, the day begins at All Saints, Langport, which commemorates two fallen brothers who lived next to the church. At the dainty St Mary, Stocklinch Ottersey we track the records of the men who fought and returned, making it a truly ‘Thankful’ village.

At golden-stoned St Thomas, Thurlbear, we trace the story and untimely death of a captain in the Household Cavalry who, to the last, remained an enigma.

  • Coach: Collects from Taunton railway station at 10am, and returns at 4pm.
  • Included: All tours include a light lunch, expert tour guides, a pick up and drop off service to a local railway station and travel between sites.
  • Please note: this tour requires a 200m walk up a small incline to Stocklinch. This may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. It may be necessary to alter some details of the tours. Guests will be advised of any such amends as soon as possible.
