Explore the bygone politics of historic Norfolk, as well as some of our remarkable churches in the company of those that know them best.

Day 1 - Follow in the footsteps of kings, queens and bishops on a fantastic journey with John Vigar, starting at 15th-century St John, Maddermarket in the centre of Norwich. We then visit the extraordinary 19th-century St Michael the Archangel, Booton, designed by friend of Charles Darwin and descendant of Pocahontas, the eccentric Reverend Whitwell Elwin.

After lunch we visit the charming St Mary the Virgin, Wiggenhall, which is full of 15th-century treasures. In the evening we’ll relish the unique opportunity to dine beneath the carved angels of the newly restored St Nicholas’ Chapel, staying overnight in the nearby Duke’s Head Hotel in King’s Lynn.

Day 2 - We begin with two beautiful rural churches: St Nicholas, Feltwell and St Peter, Hockwold. We then visit the tiny thatched church of St Mary, Barton Bendish, which according to Pevsner boasts one of the “finest Norman doorways in England”.
