He was artist in residence with the Kone Foundation in 2018 and in 2019 produced Notes From a Border River, inspired by time in Northern Ireland during Brexit negotiations. He has worked with other artists on short films and performances, and is currently writer in residence at York Civic Trust.

Julia Deakin is well known on the northern poetry circuit and beyond as the author of four acclaimed collections, and editor of the poetry magazine Pennine Platform. Her work is praised by leading UK poets, she has won a few prizes and read twice on BBC Radio's Poetry Please.
