Leeds Vocal Movement Summer Concert
St John's Church, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Join us for a musical evening
Leeds Vocal Movement is an un-auditioned SATB choir based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Established as a small ensemble with humble beginnings in 2011 they have grown every year since. Their aim is to bridge the gap between youth choirs and choral societies and provide musical opportunities for young adults between the ages of 18 and 35.
Since forming in 2011, Leeds Vocal Movement has won trophies at the Pontefract Music Festival, performed for numerous functions and maintained bi-annual concerts every year since its conception. They are a fun, educational and social choir and have sung a wide variety of genres including contemporary, classical, jazz, sacred, traditional and most recently gospel, which has been one of their focuses this term. In addition, the Musical Director Caitlin Mayall uses the Kodály method to help their members develop their ability to pitch, sight-read and improve tuning.
Leeds Vocal Movement has proudly been a registered charity since February 2018, which has allowed them to further establish their commitment to education, diversity and the development of the choir, helping them improve the accessibility of music to members and to give back to the wider community in Leeds. They’ve made huge leaps and bounds in recent months and they’re showing no sign of slowing down yet.
