Come to an activity day for the whole family at Sound & Art at St Swithun’s re-opened after our National Lottery Heritage Funded project to restore the building and regenerate St Swithun’s as a heritage attraction and cultural centre for Worcester with arts and music events.

St Swithun’s is a grade 1 listed building in the heart of Worcester City Centre. There has been a church on this site since at least the 12th century. Explore this fine rare example of a Georgian Church. Virtually intact since 1734 and in the care of Churches Conservation Trust since 1977.

This activity day will celebrate music at the heart of St Swithun’s past, present and future, there will be activities for a range of ages and abilities including an opportunity to hear St Swithun’s impressive early organ, installed in the late 18th century, played by Andrew McCrea, Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Studies for the Royal College of Organists. Andrew will be with us between 11.30-1pm and will do a 10 minute burst of activity 2-3 times at intervals within this timeframe, with the last finishing at about 1pm.

Do you know your bones from your tabor? Are spoons just for eating with? Group music-making activities will include playing boomwhackers and hand bells with a touch of the unexpected! You will be able to make, play and take home your own musical instruments.

Doors open: 10:00-16:00 / Family Activities 11:00-15:00
