Historic Church Tour 2023: Christmas around Suffolk SOLD OUT

Learn more about the rich heritage of Suffolk and enjoy the Christmas markets at St Edmundsbury Cathedral at this magical time of year.

Firsty we will visit St Mary the Virgin, Stonham Parva and explore this medieval flintwork church that has recently reopened following major conservation work to the Nave roof. The church has a tower with parapets accented with slender pinnacles.

Then we will discover the harmonious St George’s Church, Stowlangtoft set on the site of a Roman camp and was built in a single phase between 1370 and 1400, however, future generations have still been able to leave their mark.

The last stop will be the splendid St Mary’s Church, Bury St Edmunds which is amongst the largest and most historic church buildings in the country, featuring the tomb of Queen Mary of France and a window gifted by Queen Victoria.
