Witness how church buildings change over time in this tour of three diverse churches around Sudbury.

Firstly, join us as we take a preview of our latest regeneration project at St Peter’s, Sudbury. This church is currently closed until 2023 whilst we revive and repair the church into a cultural venue.

Whilst in Sudbury there will be a professional Guided Walking Tour of the Sudbury Story covering the general history of Sudbury including the weaving heritage, Thomas Gainsborough and the River.

Next we will visit All Saints’, Newton Green, a Norman church, mostly rebuilt in the fourteenth century. Inside, you will enjoy the Medieval treasures include wall paintings of Nativity scenes and a marble effigy of a lady wearing a wimple.

In your last stop, you will visit a 15th-century stone-and-flint church, with a splendid 16th-century red brick tower, St Mary’s, Chilton. The chapel – the Crane Chantry – has stunning monuments to Sir Robert Crane, MP for Sudbury, and his two wives.

The tour will begin at Sudbury train station at 10am, and will return to the station by 5.30pm
