Nigel Fenner talks about Football History and All Saints’ Church

16TH JULY AT 2:00 PM
We are delighted to welcome Nigel Fenner to The Painted Church for his talk, Football History and All Saints’ Church, exploring the remarkable but little known history of local football since the 14th century with a link between the creation of the modern day laws of football and a vicar of All Saints’ Church in the nineteenth century.

Cambridge played a significant role in shaping sport as the world knows it today, with a sporting revolution that went global.

In his talk, Football History and All Saints’ Church, Nigel Fenner will explore the remarkable but little known history of local football since the 14th century including a link between the creation of the modern day laws of football and a vicar of All Saints’ Church in the nineteenth century.

Nigel, himself a football blue and descendant of Frank Fenner of cricketing fame, is a well known writer and speaker on sporting history and many related topics.

This event is supported by Langton Football Archives, with a small display of historic Fine Art and Antiquities depicting aspects of Football history in Eastern England over the last 1000 years.
