Improviso's Christmas Concert - Cambridge
Vibrant young quartet Improviso presents a joyful Christmas programme.
Vibrant young quartet Improviso presents a joyful Christmas programme, representing a variety of composed and improvised music from three centuries and four countries. Opening with excerpts from Charpentier’s sparkling instrumental narrative of the nativity, you will hear kaleidoscopic chamber music of the Italian 17th century, an arrangement of one of J.S. Bach’s most arresting organ trio sonatas, and improvisations over festive songs from 16th century England and Spain.

This summer they also performed in Pavia, Italy as part of Ghislierimusica’s Barocco Fuori festival, and in the Utrecht Early Music Festival as semi-finalists in the International van Wassenaer Competition 2018. In September 2018 Improviso will perform in the Festival d'Ambronay, and in December 2018 at the York Christmas Early Music Festival.Improviso have been selected as a beneficiary of the eeemerging project (Emerging European Ensembles) which supports young early music ensembles within the framework of the Creative Europe programme.
