Inglesham and Eastleach. A cycle tour of churches with wall paintings.

A 20 mile round trip taking in some of the CCTs finest wall paintings.

Start at Coln St Aldwyn. Cycle East to Hatherop . Then South East to Lechlade and then on to Inglesham.  Then cycle back to the A347 and take that road to Fairford. From there take Coronation Street and return to Coln St. Andrew.

This route includes churches at Coln St. Andrew, Hatherop (lovely carved tomb of Lady Barbara de Mauley) , Eastleach (2 churches), Southrop (12th century), Faringdon (12th century), Lechlade (described with admiration in Simon Jenkins’s England’s Thousand Best Churches), Inglesham (13th century. Amazing series of paintings, from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century, cover the walls), Fairford (famous medieval stained glass windows) and Quenington (12th century, carved Norman doorways).
