The Churches Conservation Trust is a leading national heritage charity with big ambitions. Two million people visit our 356 historic churches each year, across England.

The Lead Local Community Officer manages a small team of Local Community Officers who work with communities around 110 churches across the North region. By making new connections and strengthening existing relationships within the community, Local Community Officers help communities to raise funds to support these special buildings thrive as hubs for their communities, visitor attractions and event venues.

As Lead Local Community Officer you will have your own portfolio of churches. The region stretches from Rutland in the Midlands to Northumbria so a willingness to travel across the region and nationally is important to support the team and wider organisation.

As a practitioner-manager you will be a people orientated individual and have significant experience managing a team of staff and working with volunteers. You’ll also have experience in community fundraising and generating income. You’ll be supported by a team specialists, so you do not need a background in historic building conservation or churches.

With several opportunities to collaborate across CCT to help shape and drive the organisation, the position of Lead Local Community Officer presents an exciting opportunity to lead a team and ensure our collection of historic churches remain at the heart of their communities.
