Volunteer with Seventeen Nineteen

Seventeen Nineteen plans and delivers hundreds of events per year. With just a tiny team of five staff, we rely on volunteers to help us make visitors feel welcome, to serve customers at our café, to research, and to make events happen. Our volunteering team plays a key role in bringing heritage, arts and culture to Old Sunderland and building relationships with audiences.

Whether you are interested in developing skills for your CV, getting out and meeting new people, building your confidence or sharing your passion for Sunderland’s heritage, we’d love to hear from you! Many of our volunteering roles are flexible enough to work around family and work life, or there may even be a role that can be performed from home.

We regularly advertise specific roles, but if you can see yourself volunteering in a different capacity, or if you have a particular skill set you want to bring to Seventeen Nineteen, then get in touch with a proposal and let us know.
