Seventeen Nineteen will be supporting local authors throughout 2022, and this St Bede's day we're reflecting on the history of Christianity and learning in Wearside with Carol Elva Greenwell.

As volunteer writer in residence Carol has researched the local history of Christian conformists and non-conformists and the impact of national religious events on our Sunderland ancestors. This fascinating conversation will give you an insight into the Sundrland's religious heritage including:

• The establishment of new congregations and the building of some of our local churches and meeting houses. When were they built and what has become of them?
• Some of the national and local figures associated with the various denominations and movements.
• The impact that social and educational activities centred around these places of worship had on the town and on its people.
