Religious use

Congregation at Carol Service in St Michael & All Angels, December 2009Services

Where the vicar and the Bishop agree, we are delighted to facilitate any number of occasional weekday services a year and are able to hold up to six Sunday services per church each year. These may be services arranged by the local parish church or by another recognised Christian denomination.

Our churches remain consecrated and are subject to the legal effects of that consecration.

The Collection

Whenever our churches are used for Sunday or other services, we charge no fee but ask that a collection is taken and the proceeds donated to the Trust to help with utility, repair and maintenance costs.

Funerals & burials

Funerals

To hold a funeral or memorial service in one of our churches you will need the agreement of the local vicar.

Burials

Some of the churchyards in which the Trust’s churches stand have been legally closed for burials; others remain open but only a very small number belong to us, while most remain in the care of the local Parochial Church Council (PCC).

We charge the fee which is usually charged by the PCC for the use of a church for a funeral and also (where the churchyard is vested in the Trust) the fee for burial.
