From war to hope
The Friends of St. Edmund’s Church, Falinge are delighted to bring to Rochdale the internationally renowned “Icons on Ammo Boxes”—an extraordinary and deeply moving exhibition of sacred icons created from reclaimed ammunition boxes from the front lines of war in Ukraine.
These powerful works have been exhibited across the world, from the Vatican and the White House to embassies, parliaments, and the great cathedrals of Europe and the UK. Now, through the dedication and partnerships built by The Friends of St. Edmund’s, they are being brought together in Rochdale for a very special purpose.
This exhibition stands as a reflection of the community’s remarkable efforts in supporting Ukraine. The Friends of St. Edmund’s have helped collect and send over £1.5 million worth of essential medical supplies and equipment, delivering vital aid to those in urgent need.
We are proud to bring this internationally significant exhibition to Rochdale, celebrating not only the artwork itself, but the extraordinary community effort behind it.
The exhibition will run from Monday 11th May until Monday 25th May, open daily from 11:00am to 6:00pm, with a special welcome and reception event on Wednesday 13th May at 7:00pm.
