St Martin's Church, Exeter - on the corner of Exeter's historic Cathedral Close

Visit St Martins during Celebrate Your CCT Church Week and Exeter's June Boom to find out more about the history of this ancient church with temporary displays and free guided tours. View some interesting and rare books from the church, not usually on display.
This ancient church is one of the oldest buildings in the city, and was once one of six churches clustered in the cathedral's shadow. Having escaped both Victorian refurnishing and the Second World War bombing that severely damaged many other Exeter churches, it is probably the most important and complete church in the centre of Exeter.
See 17th and 18th century monuments, box pews, fragments of medieval stained glass and a lovely C17th west gallery. The ancient chancel arch may date from the previous church on the site which was consecrated on 6 July 1065 by Bishop Leofric.
