Dark Alchemy Presents: T. G. Edwards + Dead Space Chamber Music
T. G. EDWARDS presents a composition for modular synthesiser and cello inspired by the 55 Cancri binary star system. Over the past two years, TG has been exploring using the distances between exoplanets as pitch material for new tuning systems, inspired by the ancient concept of musica universalis or “music of the spheres” interpreting the movement of celestial bodies (traditionally those within our own solar system) as music. For examples and more information on the construction, see the recent single release and liner notes “The Vulture & the Swan” available for free at: https://tommycreep.bandcamp.com/album/the-vulture-the-swan
The composition debuting at Church of St Thomas the Martyr is based on 55 Cancri- a star system 41 light years away within the constellation of cancer. The star system features five planets- Galileo, Brahe, Lipperhey, Janssen and Harriot with varying properties such as Janssen’s oceans of lava and Harriot- a gas giant with potentially habitable moons. Featuring cello by Liz from Dead Space Chamber Music.
