Celebrating 150 Years of St Mary's at Chute Forest
Join the community at the beautiful Victorian church of St Mary's in Chute Forest to mark the 150th anniversary of the church.
With a flower festival and local history display for the entire weekend, closing with the church's annual Service of Holy Communion, this is an event with something for all.
Standing remote in rural surroundings and designed by J L Pearson in 1875, St Mary's is a fine example of low budget inventiveness. Erected at the expense of the Fowle family, whose mortal remains rest in the churchyard and whose descendants still support the church today its flint and brick structure is a pattern of well-proportioned architecture. There are pretty stained glass windows by Clayton and Bell.
This event will also celebrate recent works by the local community to bring electric lighting into use at the church, a considerable undertaking to celebrate the site's founding. Why not come along to find out more, and to support this community in action.
Annual Service
The community of St Mary's, Chute Forest invite and welcome you to join them for a Service of Holy Communion with Baptism on Sunday 8th June 2025 at 6pm. All are welcome.
