Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme (LPWS)

This week, the Government confirmed the end of Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme (LPWS). This will be replaced by a new capital funding scheme for listed places of worship called the Places of Worship Renewal Fund, which will have a total funding pot of £92m.

LPWS had previously provided grants towards VAT paid on repairs to listed places of worship across the UK and since the establishment of the scheme in 2004, many CCT churches have benefited from it. 

Announcement of the new scheme is a welcome step in what has been a time of uncertainly for those who care for historic churches. We await further news on how the new scheme will operate and what it will mean for CCT churches.
