The Churches Conservation Trust is delighted to announce that the fundraising goal for the renewal of the iconic St Thomas window at St Thomas’ Church, also known as Heights Chapel, has been successfully achieved.

This magnificent stained-glass window, a much-loved feature of the church, had sadly suffered damage over the years from environmental exposure and the passage of time.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of individual donors and the local community, the full funds required to safeguard this historic treasure have been raised in a remarkably short period.

The project will be undertaken by expert conservators and stained-glass specialists, who will carefully repair and reinstall the window. Their skilled work will preserve the window’s artistry and ensure its place in the heritage of the area for generations to come. Work is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with the window expected to be reinstated in summer 2026.

This achievement is a shining testament to the spirit of the Heights Chapel community and the enduring value the church holds today. It has been inspiring to witness so many people come together to protect the future of both the window and the church.

CCT extends its heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the campaign. This milestone marks an important step in preserving the legacy of Heights Chapel and its treasured St Thomas window for many years ahead. We look forward to keeping you up to date as this project continues.
