Learn more about the skills of thatching churches, keeping the roof on, and helping us to raise funds to save the roofs at Hales and Heckingham, in Norfolk

St. Margaret's Church at Hales, and St. Gregory's Church in Heckingham are but one mile apart. But they share a common theme and problem. They are both thatched, and have been for over two centuries, but recently birds have decided they would like to share our thatch, and removed much of it from our roofs.

These two roofs will cost around £25,000 to repair, and we have an appeal in place, which has now raised almost 50%.

Join us in the centre of Norwich to meet a thatcher and find out more about thatching, how these churches are historically and architecturally important and how the CCT wants to raise money to finish the job and stop the water coming in, damaging medieval art going back over 500 years.

Refreshments will be available, and CCT staff will be on hand to answer your questions. A short presentation every hour on the hour will provide more detailed information about the projects.
