All Saints Remembers the Somme - Leicester

All Saints' Church, Leicester, Leicestershire
30th July 2016
10am - 4pm

100 years since the Battle of the Somme

Leicester All Saints is the home of a large First World War Memorial. Many of those commemorated fought in what was one of the most destructive battles of the First World War, the Battle of the Some.

Commemorating the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, this event will enable visitors to explore many of the issues associated with the campaign. The event will be delivered by qualified educationalists and CCT staff.

During this event children will have the opportunity to make models of WWI related artefacts and explore the stories behind the names on the memorials with the help of qualified and experienced volunteers.

An illustrated talk on the history and meaning of war memorials will be delivered at 2pm.
