About this church
Skull and crossbone gravestones and family fireplaces
Brockley Church developed from a small Norman building in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Its fine pinnacled tower was added in the fifteenth, but it owes much of its present furnishings and atmosphere to a thorough and graceful restoration in the 1820s.
The south transept has a spacious family pew with separate entrance and a fireplace, added by the Pigotts whose association with the parish lasted 300 years.
There is a Norman font and a stone pulpit dating from around 1480.
