Visitor Welcome Volunteer, Sandwich (St Peter's)
The medieval church of St Peter’s in Sandwich offers visitors the opportunity to climb the tower and enjoy stunning views out across the historic market town and beautiful Kent countryside. Within its walls, visitors can discover the rich history of St Peter’s, including stories about a collapsing tower and the still thriving tradition of the curfew bell.
Would you like to help share these stories with others and support this wonderful historic building?
By joining our team of Visitor Welcome volunteers you will ensure that all visitors receive a warm welcome and have the opportunity to explore all that this historic and much cherished church has to offer during their visit. In addition to greeting volunteers on arrival, Visitor Welcome volunteers help to signpost the various activities on offer and manage public access to the tower.
By volunteering, you will be helping to promote the work of the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), a national charity caring for over 350 historic churches in England, to ensure that precious buildings like St Peter’s are accessible now, and for future generations.
