Visitor Welcome Volunteer - Norwich

Voluntary role
Church of St John Maddermarket, Norwich, Norfolk

Could you share the fascinating history of a beautiful historic church?

St John, Maddermarket, is located in the beautiful Medieval City of Norwich. Could you be part of our growing team of Visitor Welcome Volunteers to provide a warm and welcoming experience for over 4000 visitors a year?

Located in the Norwich Lanes, the church is sat in a vibrant and well visited part of the city, with many independent cafes and shops near by. Rated as a ‘Quality Assured Visitor Attraction’ by Visit England, we have a range of family friendly activities as well as historical information for visitors to find out more about our links throughout the city of Norwich with memorials to Mayors and Sherrifs and a Dutchess of Norfolk!

This volunteer role is customer focused, welcoming visitors to the church enabling our visitors to discover stories about the history of the building and its past communities.

The volunteer sessions are flexible and volunteers can sign up to as many morning or afternoon sessions as they like each month! We aim to open the church Monday – Friday 11am -3pm, and 12pm-3pm on weekends.

The role is supported by Kate Roma (Volunteering Officer), and training will be provided. You do not need to know about the church history already to get involved, as you can pick it up as you go!
