"Bring in the Light" at St Peter's, Wolfhamcote
The remote medieval church of St Peter's in Wofhamcote (also spelled Wolfhampcote) sprawls across its rough-tufted churchyard, the sole survivor of the lost village of Wolfhamcote, which lies buried to the north.
St Peter's was vested in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust in 1972 with polycarbonate windows installed following historic vandalism. Over time, the elements have deteriorated this material, making it cloudy, excluding the natural light from the interior of the church.
The Friends of St Peters' Wolfhamcote have risen to the challenge of raising funds to remove the polycarbonate, replace it with glass and bring light back into the church. One window has been successfully replaced, but this is the first of 12 in the church wall, plus another 6 in the upper level.
