Hi, I'm George the mouse and I live in Holy Trinity Church. I've lived here ever since the church was built over 300 years ago in 1719 - Yep, I am really that old!

I arrived here as a stowaway, hiding very quietly onboard a Keel Boat transporting coal from Lumley - just a short trip down the river Wear. Did you know that from here coal was exported all over the world?

Me, my family and friends have made the church our home. We love it here and are very happy. We have seen so many changes in Sunderland in the last 300 years; The cholera epidemic, slavery, buildings being built and knocked down, fires, celebrations, demonstrations and two world wars. Lots of laughter and tears.

We love sharing our stories and we hope that you'll enjoy finding out about some of them as you find us hidden around the church.

Pick up a mouse trail map during your visit and begin your hunt for the ten mice hidden here - each made of a different material representing different industires of Sunderland past and present.
