Friends and Volunteers

The Trust benefits from the local support of over 40 Friends Groups throughout the country.

Working in partnership with us, these groups help us at their church in a variety of ways:

  • Promoting the church locally as a community space, learning resource and site of historic interest
  • Cleaning and opening the building
  • Keeping an eye on the church’s condition to maintain high standards of conservation and safety
  • Organising and managing events
  • Raising money for conservation projects and to improve user facilities
  • Hosting school visits and running education workshops and projects
  • Giving guided tours
  • Carrying our research for the guidebook and other interpretative materials

A friend of St Nicholas, King's Lynn, arriving to man the chapelYou will soon be able to learn more about the work of our Friends Groups in our new case studies section.

Would you like to set up a Friends Group or volunteer?

If you are interested in setting up a group to support your local Trust church, or want to find out whether there is already a group in your local area, please contact our Volunteer Development Officer.

In addition to our Friends Groups, we also benefit from the time, skills, experience and dedication of over 1,000 volunteers.  To find out more about the individuals who help us and how you, too, can get involved, click on our Get Involved pages.
