Information for the Media
England’s historic churches are often at the geographical, visual, spiritual and historic centre of our towns and villages. They are among the most beautiful examples of craftsmanship and architecture, and yet they are very vulnerable. Communicating the need for our work, the importance of protecting this collective inheritance, and the increasing need to raise funds for this is vital.
We offer the following services to professional journalists:
- Information
The Churches Conservation Trust is the leading charity conserving England’s most beautiful and historic churches which are no longer needed for regular worship. It promotes public enjoyment of these churches, and encourages their use as an educational and community resource. There are currently 340 churches in our care. They include many of the finest examples of English churches dating from Saxon times to the 19th century, representing over one thousand years of English history.
- Interviews and comment
With expert conservators, our Chief Executive, Crispin Truman and our Chairman, Loyd Grossman OBE FSA
- Photographs
We have an extensive library of photographs of our churches, available electronically.
