St Margaret, Catmore
St Margaret’s is a small, isolated church on the Berkshire Downs. Mainly 12th century (the south doorway and font are of that period), it was much restored in 1845 and 1891. The fine nave roof dates to 1607. Inside everything is very simple and rustic in appearance, even down to the re-use of cartwheels as ‘chandeliers’. A single bell of 1700 hangs in the little bellcote.
