St Andrew, Redbourne
From outside, St Andrew’s seems not an unusual mediaeval village church, but inside it is a most appealing mix of Decorated and Perpendicular with Georgian Gothick. The nave is vaulted in plaster and the chancel, remodelled in the later style, has a fantastically lurid early-19th century glass painting in the east window depicting the Day of Judgement. There are good 18th and 19th century monuments, ducal hatchments of the St Albans family who lived at the Hall and a notable incised slab to Sir Gerald Sothill (1410).
