Our successes

CCT's Volunteer Development Project is a 3 year project supported by charitable trusts and match funded by 'V' - the national youth charity.

The project commenced in April 2008 and builds upon the success of CCT's Rural Volunteer Project established in South Yorkshire in 2006.

What was the project about?

Specific targets for CCT were set externally, with a requirement to recruit 240 young volunteers at 24 of CCT's churches during the 3 years. As the project is drawing to a close it is on target to attract 500 young volunteers.

Some of the reasons for our success in this project are:

  • CCT was awarded REACH Status in 2010 (for Excellence in Volunteering with Young People);
  • CCT was chosen as a Charity Awards 2010 finalist (Arts, Culture and Heritage category);
  • we successfully developed online youth volunteering;
  • we established a successful annual National Volunteers’ Conference;
  • we ran Cathedral Camps and Refresh Projects successfully across the country.

Through partnership working with Cathedral Camps, CSV and Youth Net this project has placed CCT as one of the lead heritage charities in attracting young volunteers.
