Corporate volunteering

We value partnership working and are keen to roll out corporate volunteering initiatives across all regions.

On 7 September 2011 a group of volunteers from LateRooms.com spent a day at St Thomas' Church, Friarmere, a lovely church in a remote setting, overlooking the bleak Saddlewoth Moor.

We had a great time with them, both cleaning and polishing the inside of the church and strimming the churchyard, despite the heavy showers. We are now looking for our next church for them to work on!

We are also pleased to have recently worked with a group of volunteers from Sky Media at two of our churches in rural Northumberland.

In May (2011) a group of Sky Media technicians, together with their team leader and regional director, arrived at St Andrew's Church, Bywell and with strimmers and shears, they did a brilliant job tidying up the churchyard in next to no time. 

A convoy of Sky Media vans then travelled to St Andrew's Church, Shotley, where the imposing Hopper Mausoleum is located next to the church. Within a couple of hours the volunteers transformed the remote churchyard from a virtual wilderness into an attractive lawned enclosure, while everyone had a really good time.
