Accessibility

1. Accessibility statement for visitchurches.org.uk

This website is produced by Pixl8 on behalf of The Churches Conservation Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. Accessibility features include:

  • Links are written to make sense when read out of context.
  • Each page is constructed so that it can be read without style sheets.
  • This site uses relative font sizes to enable the user to specify "text size" in visual browsers.
  • Most pages should follow a logical Tab sequence.
  • Labels are associated with fields in HTML forms.
  • A site map has been included to provide information about the general layout of the site.

We’ve tried to make the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

2. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible but we are aware of these and are working to correct them:

  • Users may need to tab through a page before the interface input receives keyboard focus.
  • Some images may be missing alternative text.
  • There is no clearly visible focus indicator on the ‘find a church’ search bar on the home page.
  • There is no visible focus on the number drop downs, radio buttons or shop search bar in the shop section.
  • When some ‘filters’ are expanded, there is no visible focus on the drop downs (‘select category’ and ‘select county’).
  • Some images, such as the homepage carousel may be missing labels.
  • The element of some pages does not have a language attribute.
  • Some image buttons, eg grey, green or red with white text may have poor colour contrast

5. Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

6. Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Churches Conservation Trust is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

7. Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the disproportionate burden for us to make all of the changes at once.

8. Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some images may be missing alternative text: since being made aware of the issue, we are working on updating images with alternative text.
  • Some image buttons, eg grey, green or red with white text may have poor colour contrast: We are working on updating these images.

We may not be able to action all other items listed in section 2, above, due to the disproportionate burden this would entail. This is something that we are working on and endeavour to have a compliant website by September 2022.

9. Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 23rd June 2021.
