Keith Halstead

Keith Halstead was appointed as a Trustee in November 2011. Since 2005 he has been Chief Executive of the Community Transport Association (CTA)

The CTA is a national charity giving voice and providing leadership, learning and enterprise support to over 1500 community-based organisations, which are delivering local transport solutions to achieve a fairer society.

Keith represents the views of voluntary and community organisations to influence Government at all levels to build support and investment in the community transport sector. He is also an advocate of social enterprise-based solutions in the delivery of public services.

Prior to joining the CTA, Keith worked for the National Trust for eighteen years in various senior management roles in the North West, West Midlands, London and the South East, most recently as Director for the Trust’s Thames and Solent Region. While at the National Trust, he led a number of significant projects, particularly in Liverpool, to demonstrate the important role the historic environment can play in urban regeneration, including the restoration and opening of the former home of Sir Paul McCartney.  He was also involved in saving Red House in Bexleyheath – the first and only home William Morris ever built.

Keith is a member of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Committee for South East England and of Defra’s Civil Society Advisory Board. He is also a director of the Watlington Community Interest Company and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts.
