The Revd. Brian McHenry CBE

Brian McHenry, TrusteeBrian McHenry was appointed as a Trustee in April 2008. Brian was ordained as a deacon in Sept 2008 and priest in Sept 2009. He was appointed the Vicar of All Saints’, Orpington, in the diocese of Rochester, in July 2011.

 

 

 

Brian was called to the Bar in 1976. From 1978 to 2008 Brian was a Government lawyer (Senior Civil Servant from 1996). His many posts included General Counsel to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) from 2006-8, The Solicitor to the OFT from 2004-6, Chief Legal Adviser to the Competition Commission from 2000-4, The Solicitor to the BSE Public Inquiry (“the Phillips Inquiry”) from 1998-2000 and The Solicitor to the North Wales Tribunal of Inquiry (“the Waterhouse Inquiry”) from 1996-98.

In addition, Brian was a member of the General Synod from 1980-85 and 1987-2005. His Synod posts included Vice Chair of the House of Laity from 2000-5, member of the Archbishops’ Council from 1999-2005, member of the Crown Appointments Commission from 1997-2002, and Chair of the Standing Orders Committee from 1991-99.

He was awarded a CBE in 2008 for his public and voluntary service.

Brian was ordained into the ministry of the Church of England in 2008. Following a curacy at the parish of St Paul’s, Deptford, in the diocese of Southwark, he was appointed the Vicar of All Saints’, Orpington, in the diocese of Rochester, in July 2011. Since 2010, he has been a member of the Chapter of Southwark Cathedral.
