Loyd Grossman and Cllr Colin Sampson, Mayor of King's Lynn launch fundraising appeal for St Nicholas' Chapel

50 guests and members of the press enjoyed a very successful launch of the fundraising appeal for St Nicholas' Chapel, King's Lynn on Friday 27 January. 

With speeches from Loyd Grossman, Cllr Colin Sampson and Sir Jeremy Bagg the event highlighted the huge support out there for St Nicholas' Chapel. Everyone was pleased to support this iconic building in the centre of King's Lynn. 

 

We are working with The Friends of St Nicholas Chapel  to raise a minimum of £210, 000 in order to secure a grant of £1.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Unless the £210,000 is raised, we will not be granted the HLF grant. Together, the money raised will enable us to:

• Re-roof the chapel, which is urgently needed to preserve the beautiful carved angels that shelter beneath it.
• Install facilities such as a kitchenette and toilet that will enable us to run more events and attract new visitors to this wonderful building.
• Develop new interpretation information to allow the fascinating stories and history of St Nicholas’ to be told in compelling and enlightening ways that will appeal to new visitors.
• Plan activities and uses of the building to help draw in audiences that haven’t experienced this beautiful chapel before. 

Guests had an opportunity to explore the chapel in all its glory before coming in from the cold for drinks and canapés at The Duke's Head Hotel. 

At the event almost £2,000 of donations were made and more was pledged.
