Medieval clean-up by the Young Archaeology Club

14th-century chancel floor at All Saints Church, Icklingham is cleaned, recorded and presented

group picture of Young Archaeology Club members at All Saints Church, IcklinghamThe chancel floor of All Saints Church has an important collection of early 14th-century tiles, but over time they had become degraded and in need of some careful conservation cleaning.

Over the summer 2010, Dr Neil Rushton gathered together a group of Young Archaeology Club members to return this rare Medieval chancel floor back into its glorious state of centuries past.

With the help of staff from nearby West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, they set to work.
