About us

The Churches Conservation Trust is the national charity protecting historic churches at risk.

Wall painting conservation work taking place at St mary's Church, EdlesboroughWe have saved over 340 buildings which attract 1.5million visitors a year. Our unique collection of English parish churches includes irreplaceable examples of architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of history.

We were established by the 1968 Pastoral Measure: Ecclesiastical, Church of England law which is also approved by Parliament. Without us the irreplaceable buildings we look after might have disappeared entirely. Instead many have once again become the focus of active community life.
